Astellas
In October 2013, Guy Ferguson of Multimedia Plus was given the go ahead to deliver the event production for Astellas Pharma’s Sales Bootcamp.
The purpose of the bootcamp was to launch Vesomni to the sales force and affiliates. The brief requested, “compelling content and technical flair to help educate, inspire and motivate the team, leaving them equipped to take this new product into the marketplace”
With a very short lead time to deliver the solution, Guy got straight to work, providing the Astellas team with a detailed proposal, 3D visuals and suggested content.
Guy comments: “We arrived on site, built the set and rehearsed on the Wednesday, and the event was Thursday, Friday. We built the set with a room-wide stage and floor-to-ceiling 30′ x10′ truss wide screen. The biggest challenge was creating the on-screen content for the plenary session; with such a tight lead-time, we had to make some educated guesses, which luckily were approved by the client. We had to come up with some way to incorporate speaker support material for the seven different sessions, too — some were being supplied in 16:9, some in 4:3 and one direct from an iPad, so using Dataton Watchout software, we created an animation that flew in a correctly-sized placeholder. This meant we could populate it on the day. It was very last minute, but looked well designed and created high visual impact.”
The mix of presentation / workshop / interactivity was very specifically designed to maximise audience engagement. Indeed, 95% of event attendees rated the interactivity and use of technology as ‘good’ or ‘excellent’.
As well as an IML audience response system (where each attendee holds a handset to cast votes), Guy suggested a special microphone which was built into a padded cube, so that the presenters could physically throw questions into the audience. This was an effective way to exchange views, which the audience thoroughly enjoyed.
